ORIGINAL SLOPPY JOES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Buckley Estate in Garland, Texas in 1994.
Ingredients:
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 cup ketchup
1 cup water
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 white onion chopped
1 green pepper chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
How to make it:
Sauté onion and green pepper in skillet until tender.
Add ground beef and brown well.
Drain well then add remaining ingredients and simmer covered for 30 minutes.
Serve on buns.
